$14 Million for Injured Athlete

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

langston

Mr. Langston was an accomplished athlete and air steward from New Zealand.  An alpine skier, white water rafter, avid mountain climber, and hiker, Mr. Langston was at a Radisson hotel in Manhattan Beach on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles County, California.

After falling out of a 6-story window – and surviving – the 26 year old spent 8 months recovering in the hospital, enduring over 40 blood transfusions and a brain injury incurred from the fall. Mr. Langston was offered a mere $70,000 by Radisson Hotels due to their negligence from placing him back into his hotel room and leaving him unattended.

But Mr. Witzer’s legal team saw the negligence on the part of Radisson hotels differently. And pursued a case based on the fact that the window was only 18-inches high.

Over $24 Million for Toxic Mold

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

toxic-mold-gormanThe Gorman family sued 17 different builders and suppliers for the toxic mold that accumulated in their Manhattan Beach home.  Shortly after moving in, Mr. Gorman experienced frequent colds, sinus infections, and other cold-like symptoms.  Unfortunately, their young son’s immune system was overwhelmed and by 2 years of age the parent’s concern of developmental problems were diagnosed by a specialist.  The Gormans left their home, but the mold had already done its damage to the young boy.

Brian Witzer and his legal team held one of the major defendants, a lumber yard company, responsible due to storing lumber in an area that was exposed to the elements.  Once installed, the wood began to mold inside the home.  The toxic spores from the mold circulated the house thereby causing a brain injury to the young boy.

With Brian Witzer as lead trial lawyer the case settled for a record $24,000,000.00.

Learn about the dangers of Children's Motrin and Brian D. Witzer's role in the litigation

For many parents they could not understand what was happening to their child.  In order to make their child more comfortable during a time of illness or pain, they administered an over-the-counter, affordable product – Children’s Motrin.  As a rash developed and the child began to show signs of becoming sicker, the remedy of Children’s Motrin was potentially killing the child.  What the parents did not know is that the Motrin had a greater risk of causing blindness, death, or a horrifying painful disease known as Stevens-Johnson
Syndrome.  Identified by facial swelling or a red or purple skin rash, once Steven Johnson Syndrome has taken effect the reversal is
difficult and often results in death.  With side effects appearing as benign as the common cold – fever, sore throat, cough and burning
eyes- improper warnings have led to inexcusable deaths of countless children in the United States.

Brian Witzer is one of only few litigators in the country committed to holding the manufacturer, McNeil-PPC accountable.  Learn about the warning signs and side effect by clicking here to go to our Video Library.
