With a Los Angeles jury working hard in deliberations for a week, Mr. Witzer is hoping they will reach a verdict sometime next week on behalf of his client, 22 year-old Christopher Trejo. Christopher is suing
Johnson & Johnson and their fully owned subsidiary McNeill Consumer Healthcare for the amount of $102 million.
Christopher suffered from Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), pulmonary damage, near-blindness, and a hypoxic brain injury (as a result of TEN), which involved burns to over 100% of his body. Mr. Witzer and
his staff have been collecting evidence and interviewing experts for over 4 years since Christopher was originally hospitalized at only 16 years of age.
Christopher has bravely been working to mitigate his damages despite his injuries and limitations. However, his future as a doctor or a professional soccer player, have been tragically snatched from the
young man’s life potential.
Mr. Witzer put into evidence the net worth of Johnson & Johnson at $64 Billion, as well as McNeill Consumer Healthcare’s net worth at $8.8 Billion, for a total of $72,800,000,000.
Johnson & Johnson, in an effort to distance themselves from this popular analgesic, has denied any connection to the product, even though the company has represented on its own website that Motrin is their product.
The premier environmental law firm has joined the cause for injured and commercially affected parties.

Breaking reports such as the 60 Minutes expose about the series of mishaps that led to the explosion and accusations of faulty equipment creates a shocking picture of disregard for safety protocol. The featured interview, a conversation with Deepwater Horizon survivor Mike Williams, makes a clear case about how expediency and profits took precedence over worker and environmental safety.

The beginning stages of SJS.
SJS is a painful disease, which can cause graphic skin loss of between 10% and 30% of total skin mass. TEN is recognized as an even worse form of SJS where more than 30% of the body’s skin mass is affected and as many as 35% so afflicted, die. Stevens-Johnson is almost always caused by a strong and severe allergic reaction to certain over the counter and prescription drugs.

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and its more severe form called Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) are serious life-threatening catastrophic skin disorders, which can also result in blindness, organ dysfunction and death. Symptoms include rashes, redness, blisters and eventually can entail the shedding of major parts of the victim’s body surfaces.

In SJS cases involving ibuprofen-based products such as Motrin and Advil, there was a lack of warning about possible allergic reactions. Without warnings and education about the symptoms associated with SJS, mothers and fathers continued to give their children ibuprofen-based drugs allowing for a simple skin problem to progress into a life-altering condition such as SJS or TEN. It wasn’t until a concerned group of physicians petitioned the FDA for a label change that consumers finally got any warning of the potential risk of SJS and TEN being associated with allergic reactions to Children’s Motrin. It took a group of citizen doctors to make a change that the drug company had refused to make, and unfortunately for many this change was too late.
A recent FDA report focuses on drug contamination, lack of quality control, and neglect at Johnson & Johnson subsidiary regarding manufacture of Children’s Motrin and other products. Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil unit that produces children’s over-the-counter medicines, such as Motrin, Tylenol, Zyrtec and Benadryl has announced a recall of over forty of its pediatric medications and a temporary shut-down of its main manufacturing plant in response to an inspection report issued by the FDA on Tuesday. This is the fourth recall the pharmaceutical giant has issued since May 2009 for its products and the second in six months for children’s Motrin and Tylenol. Among the more serious findings in the report were that the company did not respond to over 46 complaints received since June 2009 concerning drugs manufactured at its Fort Washington plant. The FDA inspection revealed (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD FDA PDF) over 20 violations of internal quality control procedures at the plant, which resulted in the bacterial contamination of over forty over-the-counter children’s products. The FDA inspection further revealed that raw materials used in the manufacture of drugs tested positive for bacterial contamination, manufactured drugs did not contain accurate dosage, and there were reports of a brown or black substance in the drugs.
