Does Children's Motrin, Motrin or other Ibuprofen products cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome?
Motrin and other NSAIDs are believed to be responsible for Steven Johnson Syndrome. Stevens-Johnson Syndrome developing symptoms include a red rash on the face and/or the trunk which may also spread to other parts of the body. The rash may also transform into blisters around the eyes, mouth, vaginal or other mucosal areas.
Children's Motrin and Motrin are manufactured by McNeil Laboratories, operating out of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

These symptoms include rash, redness and blisters. Absent warning of these symptoms mothers and fathers all too often continue to give their children the drug making allowing for a simple skin problem to progress to a life altering condition like SJS or TEN. Instead of placing a simple warning the drug companies chose profits over patients.
It wasn’t until a concerned group of physicians petitioned the FDA for a label change, that consumers finally got any warning of the potential risk of SJS and TEN being associated with Ibuprofen products. [Ex] it took a group of citizen doctors to make a change a change that the drug companies had refused to make. [Ex] unfortunately for many this change was too late.
