The dangers of children's Motrin

Who among us that have children does not keep either Baby Motrin or Baby Tylenol in their cabinet? I mean we would almost be irresponsible not to predict that at some given interval, our children are going to need that kind of product to deal with the boo-boos or pain that are routine in a child’s life. But unbeknownst to parents, because there is no warning on the product, is the fact that one of these products has a much greater risk of death, blindness and serious skin disorders including something as serious as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which if anybody knows what it is, they know that it is absolutely horrific and results in approximately 70% of those individuals who are so afflicted, end in death. The consequences of Stevens-Johnson as opposed to taking a safe product would dictate that the product should have a warning to give parents the choice in the marketplace before they make a purchase. And perhaps even more compellingly, to make an educated choice about what to do when a child takes the product and the parent sees some symptoms developing such as a serious skin disorder. The manufacturers of ibuprofen products have known since the 70s that there has been a clear linkage between ibuprofen and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. The consequences of this improper packaging and lack of warning is that parents are simply buying this product and administering the product to their sick children, and not realizing that once sensitized, the next dosage could be deadly.
