Although my primary client is the injured party or the deceased, the reality is that surrounding that injured party is the extended family of loved ones and friends. These people are substantially impacted by the damage that has been wrought on the deceased or the injured party, and will continue on regardless of what result I am able to achieve. The injured may have better care, therapy and medical attention, but they are still going to have their underlying medical problem or brain injury. I have become very sensitive to the fact that the family members, the loved ones, the friends, the employers, the support, also have a substantial stake and interest in the proper preparation, pursuit, and prosecution of these cases. Because it is precisely those people who are the support and the only backstop for this injured person. And you know, parents die and are no longer able to tend to a wounded, injured child and then that child can be institutionalized. I have made every effort to do whatever I can to lessen the load for the family and friends who are charged with the responsibility of maintaining, taking care of, and feeding if necessary, the injured party.
