There has been a literal attitude change about the environment that we have been witness to. Years ago, there was very little concern about the environment. Very few people spent their lives trying to protect the environment, because most people saw natural resources as being endless. That attitude has changed and it's been changed in such a way that the environmental defendants don't get the kind of apathetic jury pool that they hope for. The people on juries are the same people that use our public recreation areas—whether it's waterways, mountains, or streams, and they want their environment protected. This is a whole new phenomenon that the defendant corporations are taking stock of.
