Gadolinium is an agent which is used during MRI. It is a metallic material which essentially assists in the enhancement of the body parts that are sought to be evaluated by showing contrast. This metal in some instances has caused a reaction in individuals, which is a skin disorder of a very, very substantial nature. Gadolinium has been linked to nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. NSF as it is called in short, is a horrific disease which is only associated with the use of gadolinium and, therefore, it is sort of a “bell weather” injury after getting an MRI. Individuals who have had any liver sensitivity are particularly advised to stay away from chemicals such as gadolinium. In those cases where there have been previous liver problems, there is a very, very substantial increased risk associated with the use of gadolinium. It was not until 2007 that the risks, although known for ten years, were finally disclosed to the public and that is why if there is a case of an individual with NSF resulting after the use of an MRI, they need to seek qualified, experienced legal counsel. Our firm is willing and able to take on such matters.
